USUALLY the news that petrol prices are down would be cause for celebration, but the latest AA/Populus survey reveals that car use is also on the slide. Despite more wallet-friendly prices at the pumps the situation is failing to kick-start more car use. The poll of more than 18,000 AA members, conducted in June, revealed that just 7% were more relaxed about prices at the pumps, and were using their car more than a year ago.
An evolution of the Microbus concept unveiled ten years ago, the Bulli is Volkswagen's T1 renaissance. The Bulli is yet another electric concept that graced the floor in Geneva, boasting a range of around 300 km to a single charge from its 85 kW motor. The two tone exterior, complete with oversized VW emblem is a direct nod to the T1.
With the car world in turmoil, and buyers running scared of high performance cars, most of the car makers around the world are shelving their high-end projects until things settle down. Honda has announced that it has put its NSX replacement on ice (although it is apparently still going to show it at Detroit) and other manufacturers are concentrating on their frugal products.
